Whakamana / Empowerment

Our centre’s curriculum empowers our tamariki through daily learning experiences to believe in themselves, gain confidence and make choices and decisions within a fun and respectful environment. We encourage manaakitanga by empowering our tamariki to take care of our environment through role modelling recycling and sustainability.

Kotahitanga / Holistic Development

We believe in supporting children holistically, in a socio-cultural and inclusive environment. Our centre’s curriculum reflects the holistic way that children learn and grow. We strive to offer experiences that promotes the child’s development as a whole taking into account their cognitive (hinengaro), physical (tinana), emotional (whatumanawa) and spiritual (wairua) well-being that sets the foundation for them to become lifelong learners. We value children’s cultural backgrounds and believe that through the acceptance and sharing of our unique differences we will further enrich a child’s holistic development.

Whānau Tangata / Family and Community

The wider world of family and community is an integral part of our curriculum. We believe in building strong relationships and collaborating where possible with not only our whānau but also within the teaching team. In our centre’s environment we acknowledge and support Te Tiriti o Waitangi and all ethnic groups, by respecting their cultural identity, heritage and language of each child and their whānau.

Ngā Hononga / Relationships

Children learn through respectful and reciprocal relationships within an inclusive environment. Our centre’s curriculum supports this by providing opportunities for children to gain a rich understanding of their world, and to learn through trying out their ideas with adults and other children. Partnership is important and encouraged with our whānau through interactions each day, whānau events and collaboration as we value their input and knowledge.
